The Call to Silence and Listening
A beautiful fall day. I will sit out on my porch in the sun and ponder On silence!!! Except for a donkey braaing and a dog barking here and there, all is silent. Not even the wind chime stirs as if all has committed this time to listen to the one who gave us all life. It is impossible to realize our communion with God without the practice of silence. Our more common approach to prayer is to come to Him with a long list of requests. The power, truth, peace, and joy, come when we are willing to just sit quietly and listen. He speaks into the silence. This is where we hear His marching orders. This is when the healing comes. This is when we know we are united to something larger than ourselves. I meet with a young women at 12 today for prayer and so this is my preparation time for the Lord to give me direction that His power and love will flow through me with words of encouragement and His love. I get caught up in praise and worship for the one I love and serve.
